Sacrifices

Let me start off with telling you about last Thursday - open house at the elementary school day. I was sitting at the PTO table from 11:00-12:00 and after that, I met with Alex's teacher, we found his desk, etc. During this time, I wrote a check to the PTO and one for Alex's school lunch.

Since the first day of school, I've been receiving this e-mail from the school saying Alex school lunch fund was low but I just assumed that the school had not updated their information and there must be a mistake. However, I was wrong. The PTO president sent me and e-mail yesterday asking why there was a $50.00 check in the PTO bag in addition to my $16.00 check to the PTO. Ah ha - there's Alex's lunch money. Too late though - Alex ate off the memorial fund at school which consist of P&B sandwiches. He was so hungry when he arrived home!

So if that wasn't embarrassing enough, Alex woke up early this morning and dressed himself, brushed his teeth by himself, and combed his hair by himself. Great!!!!! However, he picked out a shirt with holes in it and pants that are WAY too short. There was NOOO talking him into changing though so off to school we went. So here I am, walking into the school where my son's lunch account is negative, he had to eat a P&B sandwich from the memorial account because he had no money in his account and certainly did not have a lunch packed by his mother, his cloths are obviously torn and too small....but his mom is wearing a new shirt!!! Social services have not called as of 7:49p.m. tonight so I'll keep you posted. If social services does call - this post will be deleted and I'm denying everything!!!

At First You Don't Suceed, Try Again....And Again.....And Again

The rumors are true! I, after saying that I would never ever want to date again, have started dating. I was falling into the appeals of spinsterhood - buying numerous cats, drinking Tang, and watching Jeopardy when I started dating. I've gone on three dates thus far with three different individuals.

Bachelor #1 - Nice guy. Had a job so already he's a winner in my book! We had supper, went to the laser show at the Falls in Sioux Falls, and had a drink at the end of the night. Very nice guy but wasn't really my type. We still talk as friends every now and then.

Bachelor #2 - Oh where do I start with this one! We had a date scheduled for a Friday night. I brought Alex to his dads house and called Bachelor #2 to say that I'm on my way to meet him in Watertown. He wanted to make me supper so I'm thinking, he'll make supper and then we'll go out. After all, it is our first date...you want to impress on your first date correct? Obviously not bachelor #2. He made a shrimp pasta and rented movies. Not my idea of a first date. While he was cooking, his dog kept looking at me and his eyes said "I'M SO HUNGRY" so, I fed him some cantaloupe from the table. Bachelor #2 FREAKED OUT! "I SPENT MONTHS TRAINING HIM....BLAH BLAH BLAH" Okay crazy. We proceeded to eat and anyone who knows me knows that conversation is something that I love and on a first date - isn't it a goal to have conversation and get to know each other? Obviously not bachelor #2. Halfway through dinner he says...and I quote "do you ever shut-up". Where's the door? I get up, ready to leave and to top of the evening he says...and again I quote "Do I need to walk you to your car because if I do, I need to put my shoes on". Yep...you just stay there. A few nights later I receive an angry text message on my phone because I didn't call back. Okay crazy.

Bachelor #3 - Nice guy. Our first date was actually the Keith Urban concert! Did I leave that information out? We had a great time together and he was very nice, great conversation, and very sincere. We've gone out for lunch a couple of times since and will be going to the Twin's game and a play this weekend.

So one bad date out of three isn't bad...right?

Alex Is Back To School And Mom Is Back To Blogging

Life as we know it is returning! I am such a better mom when school is in session because it forces me to stick to a schedule and become more organized. Today is the first day of school for Alex who is now a first grader! There were many mom's like Jamie :-) who were in tears because their babies are starting school. No doubt, I was one last year and thought I would be one again this year. Nope - couldn't have dropped Alex off at school early enough this morning. The morning started off well, but then it took an ugly turn when apparently every kid in school knows how to read VERY WELL except Alex. Mom explained, you go to school to learn and everyone is nervous about their first day...you do your best...blah blah blah but after spending the morning fighting every excuse, we took a sharp right at the school, opened the door and booted him out.

So what have I been doing since my last post? Well, obviously revamping my blog, enjoying the remains of summertime with Alex after I finished my summer semester, had a kidney infection (fun) spent some time with friends, went on a first date, experienced daycare issues, my aunt is engaged to be married this November, Alex was in sporties for shorties and invention camp, and I had a minor fender bender where I realized my license tags expired in January of 2007. So which one do you want me expand on? The kidney infection? Okay - well that was fun!!! I had these back pains that I kept ignoring because I thought I was just sleeping wrong. Then I started vomiting so I figured I had better go to the clinic. Spending the night in a hospital was out of the question since there was a little six-year-old at home and social services usually frown on that so we rented every Scooby Doo movie that was in our small town and laid around for a few nights. I explained to Alex that mom wasn't feeling well and asked him what he wants for supper (first mistake). What did young Alex request....ROAST! Apparently rack of lamb wasn't sounding good that night? He settled for a P&B sandwich.

I'm so happy to be back to blogging and catch up on your lives. You have all been in my thoughts so don't think for a second that I haven't wondered what's been going on with you divas!!!
